A.R.T. Evolution Provides Valuable EXPOSURE for LOCAL ARTISTS
(Las Vegas, NV- 2010) – The economy has hit the Las Vegas arts community hard, and artists are struggling to find a venue for their creations. One local organization is providing an alternative for these creative minds. A.R.T. evolution provides exhibit space within the offices of BRAND Ltd, a Las Vegas-based advertising and marketing firm. This 5,500 sq. ft. office space provides an unconventional location for artists to sell their work.
The program was developed through the Odyssey Lifestyle: celebrating the journey of fine living, founded by Virginia and Mark Martino in 2007. Twenty-five percent of event proceeds benefit the nonprofit Odyssey Foundation.
Costs can run $5,000 or more for artists to stage a show of this caliber by themselves. For A.R.T. evolution, BRAND handles all of the reception marketing, creative and public relations activities. A.R.T. evolution’s dedicated sponsors provide food, wine, beverages, printing and services. This leaves the artist free to focus on the solo-artist show.
“Print invitations, e-blasts, service staff, hors d’oeuvres and wine, these costs all add up,” said Debbe Sussman, creative consultant with partnering agency Art Creates. “Most artists don’t have the experience to organize such an exhibit, much less the financial means.”
Response to the exhibits has been positive from both the artists and the art connoisseurs. A.R.T. Evolution exhibitors have been very successful in selling pieces during the shows as well as signing commission pieces. On occasion, A.R.T. evolution will pair two artists, such as 2009’s third quarter exhibiter’s photographer Arthur Jacob and fusion glass jeweler Tracey Horowitz.
The Martinos select exhibitors based on recommendations from art curators, business associates and artists. Sensitive to the economy, the Martinos encourage artists to include pieces ranging from the hundreds to a few thousand dollars.
“Art space is definitely dwindling across the city,” said artist and former A.R.T. Evolution exhibitor Leslie Rowland. “We’re finding it more and more competitive to get our works shown in a venue like A.R.T. evolution provides.”
